REELEMENTS. Clean separation of materials from Li-Ion batteries.

This unique process technology uses high-frequency shock waves to recycle and extract valuable materials without thermal or chemical treatment in an environmentally friendly manner.

The REVOLUTION in battery recycling:

Electrohydraulic fragmentation process (EHZ)

The core technology, the material-selective electrohydraulic fragmentation process (EHZ) of REELEMENTS, separates complex material composites and composite materials. The process uses mechanical, high-frequency (current) shock waves generated in a liquid medium coupling the energy and thus fragmenting the recycled material.

The process enables REELEMENTS to obtain a material purity of 98%.

The REELEMENTS recycling process is highly efficient and quick for recycling lithium-ion batteries. After treating the batteries, the active materials of the cathode can be sent back to the production process without having to break them down further into their individual components. Accordingly, the process can also be used for industrial production rejects.

The advantages of the REELEMENTS process:

  • No thermal or chemical treatment
  • Separation of anode and cathode by selective decoating using shock wave process
  • No need to discharge the batteries
  • High material recycling rate
  • Highest material purity of anode and cathode active materials
  • Recovery of lithium in early process stages
  • High cost efficiency
  • Can be quickly scaled & integrated into production processes
  • Minimization of CO2 footprint. Environmentally friendly & sustainable
